Vernon CT rollover closes I-84

Around 1:45 this afternoon emergency personnel responded a serious accident involving a vehicle that has rolled over trapping the occupant inside. The Jaws of Life are being used to extricate the victim at this time and a Lifestar helicopter has been requested to land at the scene. The westbound side has been shut down to accommodate the emergency response.

Update: 2:40 PM:It was being reported that the helicopter that responded had become disabled at the scene once it landed. The fire department apparatus was going to remain at the scene and aid in blocking the scene as well as the helicopter until it is removed. Also the state police will be conducting an investigation into the circumstances leading up to the crash. One lane will be opened shortly but the delays can be expected to last a while longer.
