Serious crash closes Route 128 South in Danvers

Shortly after 7:30 this evening State police as well as members of the Danvers Fire department and EMS personnel responded to Route 128 SB near Route 35 for an accident with serious injuries. The officer in charge at the incident requested Medflight and the landing zone was established at the scene. The road was closed at route 35 for the purposes of crash response and investigation. It is unknown at this time the age or identities of the victims. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

Update 8:50 PM--State police investigators at the scene are confirming 1 fatality at the scene and a 2nd victim is being flown to a Boston area hospital by helicopter. Mass highway has been requested  with a front end loader to help in moving the jersey barriers that were dislodged during the events of the crash. Officials expect to have the roadway opened by 10 pm.
