Multi-alarm fire tears thru million dollar home in Lexington

Around 4:45 yesterday afternoon fire officials were called to a large 2.5 story house at 47 Vaille Ave for a report of a fire. Upon arrival companies had heavy fire/smoke showing from the front of the building and conditions were quickly deteriorating. The blaze quickly consumed the front side of the structure and made a quick advance to the upper floors eventually breaking thru the roof. Within minutes a 2nd alarm was ordered and companies were ordered out of the building and defensive operations were set up. Hanscom engine 6, Arlington 2, Burlington tower 1 responded to the scene along with a Bedford engine. Meanwhile; Winchester covered the east side & Belmont pump covered the HQ station.  A large portion of the roof on the front of the building quickly gave way as the fire was making quick work of the mansion.
