Brockton home damaged by early AM fire

Shortly before 1 AM on February 22nd; Brockton firefighters responded to a reported house fire at 88 Myrtle St. Upon arrival of engine company 2 they reported they had smoke showing & fire venting out the rear of the large 2.5 story multi family house. Companies began an interior attack and discovered the fire seated in the basement and was making a quick advancement up the back walls of the structure. The working fire was transmitted a few minutes later bringing additional manpower to the scene. The fire broke thru the roof in the rear and Car 56 ordered the 2nd alarm. The fire was knocked down and brought under control in about 45 minutes. Not much damage visible from the front but the top floor in the rear appeared to sustain the brunt of the damage. There was also heavy smoke and water damage throughout the structure.
