Fatal pedestrian accident in Lynn

Around 11 AM this morning first responders responded to the Lynnway near #808 for reports of an accident involving a pedestrian. Once at the scene crews had an 80 year old male victim that had been struck in between the left 2 lanes center lanes for the 3 lane roadway in serious condition. A med-flight rescue helicopter was summonsed to the scene then was cancelled. The victim was transported to the Union Hospital in Lynn where he was pronounced dead.

Spokesman Sean Lewis with the State Police stated in a press release:
The man was among a group of pedestrians attempting to cross the roadway from the center median near 808 Lynnway at about 11 a.m. Saturday.

Adriana Ribeiro, a 37-year-old Swampscott woman, stopped her Land Rover to let the group cross, But when the group of pedestrians got to the middle of the three-lane road, a 22-year-old Somerville woman failed to stop, and the 2000 Nissan Altima she was driving struck the Boston man.

The release also said Guerbie Gilles, the Altima driver, was transported to Lynn Union Hospital along with the Boston man. They did not release his name and did not mention on any injures Gilles may have sustained in the incident.

While police investigated the crash, they closed the third and second travel lanes on the southbound Lynnway for about two hours.

  2. The driver of the Altima did not regard pedestrians too well judging by this tweet two days prior to the accident.

  4. The tweet says: people that takes there sweet time to cross the street while I'm in a rush deserves to get #HIT" and FineWine reply's "I agree damn pedestrians". at least if you are going to quote, quote correctly. Don't manipulate the words. There is a law against that.
