Chelmsford accident seriously injures 1

Around 2:30 this morning the State Police & the Chelmsford fire department responded to reports of a car that plowed into the back of a tractor trailer on Interstate 495 South after Route 3. Upon arrival they found a vehicle with extensive damage & the occupant of the vehicle suffering from serious injuries. A call was made for medflight then it was cancelled due to an extended response time. The decision was made to transport the victim by ground to the Lahey Clinic in Burlington for treatment. The roadway was closed between Route 3 & Route 110 for approximately 4-4.5 hours so the state police could conduct reconstruction. The identity of the victims has not been released pending proper family notification. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
