Busy night in Lawrence

The night began to get busy for Lawrence officers around 20:30 hours on the night of 12/30 as they responded to a reported home invasion on Howard Street in the Prospect Hill section of the city. On arrival they located a victim that had been assaulted with a rifle. EMS transported to area hospital where his condition is said to be non life threatening. As the perimeter was being established, Methuen & troopers scoured for 3 male suspects that took off on foot. As of this time it's not known if any arrests have been made in connection with this incident.

At 1:30 AM on 12/31/2011 a 911 call came in for a person shot on Jackson St. They located a victim with a wound to the neck and asked for the ambulance to step it up. It is not known what the condition  of the victim is or if any suspects were taken into custody. It was confirmed later in the day on 12/31/2011 that the victim who was visiting his family and not from the area passed away at the hospital due to his injuries.

Lets not forget the fire department. Shortly before 2 AM calls were being received for a report of a fire near 485 South Union St. Fire fighters arrived on the scene and ordered the 2nd alarm. I didn't hear to much on this as I was monitoring the shooting incident. I think it would be safe to assume there were no injuries & firefighters made a quick knock on the job.
